INEC to conduct mock accreditation exercise in 12 polling units in Oyo

INEC to conduct mock accreditation exercise in 12 polling units in Oyo

OYO—-The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Oyo State has concluded arrangements to conduct mock accreditation on Saturday in 12 polling units selected from the three Senatorial Districts of the state.

INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner for Oyo State, Dr Adeniran Rahmon Tella disclosed this during a Stakeholders’ Meeting on Mock Voters’ Accreditation/Verification exercise held at INEC Secretariat in Ibadan on Wednesday.

Tella said that the essence of the mock exercise was “to conduct field tests of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) ahead of the Feb. 25 and March 11 elections.

He said that the selected polling units were careful chosing across the three Senatorial Districts in the state- Oyo North, Oyo South and Oyo Central Districts of the state

Tella said that the exercise would hold between 8.00am and 2:30pm

According to him, in Oyo Central Senatorial District, the exercise will take place at Anglican Primary School, Akingbile and Olugbode Polling Units of Akinyele Local Government.

He added that the exercise would take place in St. Michael Esieland L.A. primary School Sabo in Atiba Local Government Area.

For Oyo North Senatorial District, Tella said that the exercise would take place at Kabiyesi Street of Ekunle Registration Area and at L.A. Demonstration School all in Iseyin Local Government Area of the state.

He added that the venue for Sabo/Tara Registration Area is Oke Aanu Town Planning 1 and Blind Centre in Osupa Registration Area both in Ogbomosho North Local Government Area.

For the Oyo South Senatorial District, Tella said that the mock exercise would take place in Ibadan North and Ido Local Government Areas of the state.

He said that the venue for Ibadan North was Methodist Primary School (NTA) 1 and Oba Akinbiyi High School ll Oremeji Mokola Ibadan.

According to him, the venues for Ido Local Government are St. Peter Secondary School, Apete and Open space Ido Garage.

Tella appealed to all registered voters in the affected Polling Units to appear on the scheduled date with their Permanent Voters’ Cards for the mock exercise.

Shadanpamareporters reports that the meeting had in attendance all members of Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), representatives of some of the registered Political Parties in the state, heads of religious bodies, international Observers from European Union Electoral Observation mission, NGOs and the media.
Shadanpamareporters also reports that INEC has fixed February 25th for the Presidential and National Assembly elections, and March 11th, for the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections. (Shadanpamareporters).
