Eid-el-Fitr: Lagos APC greets Muslims, urges support for better Nigeria under Tinubu
The Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, has urged Nigerians to work together with the incoming administration of Sen.Bola Tinubu for a better Nigeria
Ojelabi made the appeal in his Eid-el-Fitr message on Thursday in Lagos.
Rejoicing with Muslims on the successful completion this 2023 Ramadan fasting and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitri, Ojelabi enjoined Nigerians to elevate love, perseverance and patriotism above all other things, to move the nation forward.
“As Muslims and as Nigerians, we must not relent in our collective effort, prayers and personal relationship with God as we did in the Holy season of Ramadan.
“We should allow the good lessons we learnt during Ramadan to make us work for a better Nigeria that we all desire.
“I enjoin you all to be your brothers and sisters’ keepers as well as be ready and willing always, to work with people of other faiths for unity, justice and good relationship.
“Beloved, Nigeria is our own, our common heritage, and country, let us continue to work for her unity, political stability, equity, genuine and good governance.
“We need this as we prepare earnestly for the inauguration of our President-elect, Sen..Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and that of our Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, come May 29,” the chairman said.
He stated that the Eid-el-Fitr celebration marked the end of the 30 days of spiritual rebirth as commanded by Allah in fulfillment of the fourth pillar of Islam.
According to him, the fasting comes with its own protocols and discipline and also offer the opportunity of being closer to God and getting prayers answered.
“We all have become free of sin because of the many spiritual gains we made and the love we shared with our brethren in the Holy month.
“We beseech God to grant us more opportunity of Ramadan so that we will continue to be useful to humanity.
“That this unique occasion is coming some two weeks after Christians celebrated Easter implies that Allah is at work in our lives.
“It also gladdens my heart that both Muslim and Christian observed the fasting almost simultaneously and celebrated together irrespective of our faith,” he added.
Praying for peace in the nation, Ojelabi, implored citizens to be law-abiding so that government could continue to provide good governance for them.
