Deploy adequate security to PUs, Ex-Presidential aspirant urges Buhari

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Stanley Osifo, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure adequate security at various polling units nationwide during Saturday’s Governorship and House of Assembly elections.

Osifo, who made the call in a statement on Thursday in Lagos, cautioned that politicians must prioritise peace as well as security of life and property above any political ambition.

“There is need to tread with caution and maintain peaceful conduct at all times.

“I call on President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that adequate security is deployed across the polling units,” Osifo said.

Osifo, who was a presidential aspirant under the APC, urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be above board and reproaches by strictly adhering to the provisions of the Electoral Act.

He said that the INEC Chairman and Resident Electoral Commissioners of various states should put a mechanism in place to monitor conducts of field officers.

He said that all unforseen challenges should be swiftly addressed while also maintaining constant communication with all stakeholders.

“INEC should ensure timely commencement of voting on the day of election.

“The electorate should conduct themselves in an orderly and civilized manner,” Osifo said.
