DAMILOLA OLADEHIN: a life of good influence

By Queen Adaeze

It was a moment of celebration and giving back to one’s alma mater, as one of the old students of Loyola College, Ibadan, Mr. Damilola Oladehin on Monday, November 13, 2023 donated books and other learning materials to students of Loyola College Ibadan to mark his 40th birthday anniversary.

The day unfolded with purpose and brilliance as it was a special day dedicated for Damilola Oladehin’s 40th birthday Outreach at Loyola College, Ìbàdàn.

The staff and students were eagerly waiting to receive him; the students all lined up on the assembly ground in their clean uniforms and sandals, and the teachers behind them.

Amidst loud cheers, Damilola Oladehin was introduced by the principal to the delight of the students. The celebrant stressed how important the school was in shaping his life, how he learnt about responsibilities as a chapel prefect, and how he thought it is imperative to come back to the school on the occasion of his 40th birthday to reach out to the students-the future leaders.

He didn’t come alone, he came with a seasoned Coach and Counselor, Mrs Adetutu Oshofowora who spoke to the boys at length on how to become future forward leaders.

She emphasized the importance of developing a productive life, good hygiene, sexual purity, service, and speaking out when situations warrant.

She was very engaging, and left an indelible mark in the hearts of the student. She took questions, and clarified where necessary.

Also present was Lafup, a celebrated comedian and MC, who briefly encouraged the students and capped it all up with some humour.

Friends and family of Damilola Oladehin were also there to celebrate with him and witness the joy of his birthday.

The celebrant also promised continuous support to the school’s activities in areas of his capacity, and through friends and family.

November 13, 2023 will always be a day to remember for the school, the students and the staff of Loyola College, Ibadan.
