EKITI- The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ekiti State on Saturday said that all arrangements had been concluded to embark on mock accreditation in some local governments in preparations for the forthcoming general elections.
INEC’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity in Ekiti, Mr Temitope Akanmu, disclosed this in a statement in Ekiti.
“Preparatory to the 2023 general elections in Ekiti State, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC Ekiti state will conduct a mock accreditation exercise.
“This exercise shall hold on 4th of February, 2023 in six 6 selected Local Government Areas at 2 LGAs per Senatorial District. Central (Ado & Ekiti West) North (Ikole and Ilejemeje) South( Emure & Gbonyin).
“It should be noted however, that the exercise shall hold only in two (2) selected polling Units(PUs) in each of the affected Local Government Areas. INEC is hereby appealing to voters in Ekiti state, whose PUs are involved in the exercise to come out en-mass to participate in the mock accreditation exercise.
“The essence of the exercise among others is to evaluate our state of preparedness,” Akanmu said.
Shadanpamarepoters reports that INEC has fixed Feb. 25 for the Presidential and National Assembly Elections and March 11 for the Governorship and House of Assembly elections.
Ekiti State is one of the states in the federation selected by INEC headquarters to test test run the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) Machine ahead of the polls.(Shadanpamarepoters)
