Tourism Minister pledges support for NATOP’s 8th AGM
The Minister of Tourism, Mrs Lola Ade-John, has pledged to support the Nigeria Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) in marketing Kwara as a tourism hub.
Ade-John made the pledge during a courtesy visit by Mrs Ime Udo, National President of NATOP, in Abuja, to intimate her of the association’s forthcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM), slated for Kwara, from July 17 to July 20.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the AGM is aimed at marketing tourism attractions within Kwara.
The Minister, in a statement, expressed excitement at NATOP’s strategy to promote tourism through its AGM.
She assured the association of her support and attendance.
She hinted on the ministry’s intention to identify heritage sites across the nation by partnering with states to attract investors.
She said the AGM would help the ministry to actualise these plans seamlessly in Kwara.
Earlier, Udo notified the Minister about the AGM as she extended an invitation to her.
She said the AGM would be extending searchlight to Kwara’s tourism attractions with the intention of marketing the sites for improved patronage.
She said the tour operators would be opening up Sobi Hills, Owu falls, the University of Ilorin Zoological Garden and other iconic places where local fabrics of Aso-oke are made
