Supplementary Election: INEC declares APC’s Doguwa, NNPP’s Shehu winners in Kano
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Rep. Alhassan Doguwa of APC and Mohammed Shehu of NNPP, as winners of Saturday’s supplementary election for Doguwa/Tudun Wada and Fagge federal constituency of Kano respectively.
The Returning Officer for Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency Election, Prof. Sani Ibrahim of Bayero University Kano announced the result on Sunday at the INEC office in the federal constituency.
Ibrahim said that Doguwa scored 41,573 votes to defeat his closest rival, Salisu Abdullahi of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), who polled 34,831 votes.
Meanwhile, INEC also declared the candidate of the NNPP, Mohammed Shehu, as the winner of Fagge federal constituency.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Ibrahim Suraj of the same university, said Shehu polled 19,024 votes, followed by the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Shuaibu Abubakar, who polled 12,789 votes, while the incumbent APC’s Aminu Goro came third with 8,669 votes.
