Olubadan of Ibadan died, buried two years after ascending throne
Oba Olalekan Balogun, the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadan, who joined his ancestors at the age of 81 on Thursday evening had been laid to rest in Ibadan.
The remains of the late Oba Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, on Friday laid to rest at his ancestral home in the Alarere compound area of Ibadan the Oyo state capital.
Present to witness the late monarch’s burial is the Oyo state Deputy Governor, Mr Bayo Lawal, who led a delegation of the State Executive Council to the burial.
The Olubadan in council was led by the Otun Olubadan, Sen. Rashidi Ladoja whom other dignitaries joined to pay their last respects to the departed monarch.
The late monarch spent two years on the throne. He was presented with the staff of office on March 11, 2022, after being endorsed by the Ibadan high chiefs.
Balogun succeeded Oba Saliu Adetunji who died on January 2, 2022, at the age of 93.
The late monarch will be buried on Friday evening at his Aliiwo ancestral home in Ibadan, according to Islamic rites.
