Nigerian Army Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers pulls out 17 Generals
The Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (EME) has pulled out 17 Generals who retired from active military service.
The colourful event took place at 65 Battalion parade ground Bonny Cantonment in lagos State on Friday, Aug. 23.
The pulling out parade was conducted to celebrate the illustrious and selfless service rendered by some retired Generals of the corps to the Nigerian Army, EME and the nation as a whole.
The Special Guest of Honour for the occasion and also one of the celebrants was Maj.-Gen. General Moses Uzoh (Rtd).
Uzoh said that it took endurance, encouragement, determination, the grace of God and prayers to be able to reach the pinnacle of the profession.
Uzoh who was the former Corps Commander of the Corps of EME and also one time former Director General, Defence Industries Corporation said that he and his colleagues were delighted to be honored with a valedictory parade to bid farewell to the NA.
“I express my gratitude and that ofy colleagues for the opportunities to serve the nation.
“Our service years has indeed given us the leadway to significantly contribute to the growth and development of the EME corps and NA in general,” he said.
The general said that EME had remained an elite Corps in the NA while emphasising the place of the Corps in the history and development of the NA in terms of logistics Support.
“I implore the Corps to always be ahead through proactive application of science and technology to help the NA achieve its dynamic responsibilities,” he said.
Uzoh expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja for his unwavering support to the Corps.
He thanked the COAS especially for his commitment to the face lift of the Corps and his dedication to reviving their past glory through strategic interventions in infrastructural development.
“I also express my sincere appreciation to the host and the Commander, EME, Maj.-Gen. Baba Yahaya for organising the pulling out parade.
“I commend the commitment and determined EME personnel and past Corps Commanders for putting the Corps in its rightful position,” Uzoh said.
Also speaking, the cheif host, Yahaya, said that the plan to pull out the retired Generals of EME by the previous successive Corps Commanders since 2015 proved abortive.
“Well, it is said that better late than never” he said.
He said that the Corps had made significant progress since the retired generals left the service.
“Notably, is the massive training support at the Corps school in Auchi by the COAS especially in the area of infrastructure.
“The school now has a befitting auditorium and mechatronics workshop amongst other development,” the commander said.
Yahaya also expressed his profound gratitude to all the celebrants for making time to honor the invitation and also thanked all the Corps Commanders present at the occasion.
Some of the guest at the occasion were the General Officer Commanding, 81 Division NA, Flag Officer Officer Commanding, West, the Air Commanding Officer, Logistics Command, senior military officers both serving and retired.
Others are sister security agencies, civilians and family who graced the occasion.
