The Logistics Command of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) embarked on its quarterly 10km march on Saturday in Lagos, with the goal of improving the fitness and camaraderie of its soldiers.

Air Officer Commanding (AOC), AVM Adeniran Ademuwagun, said that the exercise, mandated by NAF Headquarters, was conducted across all NAF formations nationwide.

“The exercise mandated by Headquarters, NAF is simply targeted at improving physical fitness and promoting camaraderie among the soldiers.

“I am happy for those that participated in the walk and I congratulate them for completing the exercise even though the march was an imitation of the real 10 km in reality.

“The next march will be exactly 10 km by God’s grace,” he said.

Ademuwagun emphasised that soldiers feeling fatigued after the exercise still had room for improvement in their fitness levels.

“If after participating in this exercise, you find yourself sleeping throughout the day, just know that you still have a lot to do for fitness.

“However, if you still have enough energy to carry out other activities after participating in the exercise, it means that you are good to go,” he said.

Ademuwagun appreciated the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the command for also joining in the walk.

“Those of you anticipating joining the military after service have a feel of what we do to stay healthy and strong.

“I also appreciate the band and the medical unit for their support towards the success of the march as no casualty was recorded during the exercise,” he said.

The AOC revealed plans to increase the march route within the barracks for the next exercise in January, so that children could observe and aspire to participate.

“So, by the next exercise in January, we will hopefully have a better performance than what we had today,” Ademuwagun said.
