N80.2bn Fraud: Court restates order for Yahaya Bello’s arrest
There is no respite yet for Yahaya Bello, a former Governor of Kogi State, as a Federal High Court in Abuja has ruled that he must show up in court.
The court ruled on Friday that its order for the arrest and production of Yahaya Bello still subsisted.
It said Yahaya Bello’s refusal to attend the court was disrespectful to the court.
Justice Emeka Nwite held that the court would not entertain the applications filed by Bello unless he appeared in court and pleaded to a 19-count money laundering charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The court rejected his request to stop his trial in the on-going N80.2bn fraud charges brought against him.
Bello had asked the court to stay execution in his trial on the ground that EFFCC had filed an appeal before the Court of Appeal.
