NCS says leveraging technology creates sustainable future for citizens

The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) said that in transforming our nation to meet future demand the nation must use technology to create a more sustainable and liveable present and secure future for citizens.

This was made known on Friday during during a press briefing in Lagos to announce the NCS international conference.

The president, NCS Dr Muhammad Aliyu said that the nation’s quest for innovation leveraging research and development must increase to secure the future of it’s citizens.

Aliyu said that the nation must also develop effective strategies to achieve a Smart economy sustainable for the nation.

He said that the government, the citizens and the business environment must invest in the relevant technologies to compete in the global space.

According to him, this approach requires the right team with new mindsets and skill.

”The emergency of connected cities and data driven nation is making planing and decisions making easier at the global level.

”Different studies have ranked Africa low in adopting technology to build safe , secure and sustainable economy.

”At the heart of technology driving innovation is days and citizens engagement”, he said.

According to him, the theme of the conference “Technological Solutions for Smart Economy (SmartEco 2024) was carefully and scientifically chosen.

He said it is in order to provide the needed technological support for government drives and mission in this modern society.

The NCS conference is the biggest Information Technology event in Africa and indeed Nigeria.

It would commence in Aug 12-15 would bring together policymakers within the government, business leaders, members of academia, professionals and practitioners.

The stakeholders would deliberate on broad social, economic, and technology trends relevant to the development and sustainability of our nation.
