Lagos, NATOP set for World Travel Market
The Lagos State Government and the Nigeria Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) have expressed readiness to showcase and market the state’s tourism sites to the global audience at the World Travel Market (WTM).
The national president of NATOP, Mrs Bolaji Mustapha, during a meeting with the commissioner on Monday in Lagos, said no fewer than 50 tour operators will be attending the global event.
Mustapha noted that each of the members would explore exposing Lagos tourism offerings, including its rich cultural heritage sites, stunning natural landscapes, vibrant entertainment and nightlife as well as historic landmarks and monuments.
She explained that NATOP had always taken pleasure in projecting local tourism sites for improved patronage.
“We seek your consent as the commissioner for tourism to showcase Lagos as a cultural and tourism hub during the World Travel Market.
“At WTM, we plan to target international tourists; travel agents and operators; travel enthusiasts; and tourism board as we showcase the unique experiences Lagos has to offer.
“We intend to increase tourist arrivals into Lagos, enhance revenue generation, promote cultural exchange and foster economic growth.
“Our expertise will help attract global attention and drive patronage,” she said
Earlier, Benson-Awoyinka noted that the initiative of marketing the state’s tourism and cultural offerings at such a laudable platform was a welcome idea.
She appreciated the tour operators as she supplied some of the advertorial materials.
“We are open to NATOP, assisting the state in marketing our tourism destinations. We will be doing this together and we hope to attract the needed result,” she said.
The World Travel Market is to hold from Nov. 5 to Nov. 7, at Excel, London, United Kingdom.
