Ibadan: Air Force Primary School graduates 99 pupils, as speakers counsel learners

The Air Force Nursery and Primary School, Alakia, Ibadan in Oyo State has graduated 99 pupils in its 2023/2024 academic session, admonishing the graduands to be good ambassadors of the school in their future careers.

The 32nd graduation ceremony of the school held on July 26, held at the school premises located along New Airport Road in Ibadan.

Former INEC’s Spokesman and Guest Speaker at the event, Mr Femi Akinbiyi, called for inculcation of right values and beliefs in the children when they are still young and bendable.

Akinbiyi said: “Whatever a child believes to be the norms today will be the pattern of his future believes, growth and practice, even if they were wrong.

“To later want to change the mindset will be tedious.” Akinbiyi, the Founder/President of Shadanpama Grassroots Initiative, said.

In his paper entitled “Learning, Adapting and Growing in Ever-changing World”, the guest speaker, said that the theme was apt in an ever-changing world.
“There is no other auspicious time to talk about learning, adapting, and growing in an ever changing world than now when what is celebrated as a record breaking event in the morning has been broken in the afternoon by others.

“It is also important so that our young ones here will easily key themselves into the trending events in their generation.

“Learners of today should recognise that learning is a continuous process and they should seek out opportunities to gather a new skill and knowledge,” Akinbiyi said.

He advised parents to be mindful of their behaviour, saying children learn a lot from their parents’ attitudes, values and beliefs.

“Parents could also provide support for their children by helping them to build resilience and guidance,” he said.
According to him, by recognising the impact of parents and environment, parents can work to create a supportive ecosystem that nurtures a growth mindset in children, setting them up for success and lifelong for learning.

Akinbiyi said that by acknowledging both the advantages and disadvantages of the ever-changing world, pupils can approach learning, adapting and keep growing with a balanced prospective, maximising the benefits while minimising the drawbacks.

In his speech at the occasion, the Commander 671 Nigerian Airforce Station Ibadan, Air Commodore George Akinyimika ably represented by Squadron Leader Nnamdi Ezeah commended the graduands for their diligence, resilience and discipline that saw them to the conclusion of their academic pursuit in Airforce Primary School Alakia Ibadan.

Akinyimika charged graduands to double their efforts so as to realise their dreams in life.

” With higher level comes higher Expectations, double your effort and the sky will be your starting point,” the commander said.

He however thanked parents of the graduands for their moral and financial support, praying God will continue to provide for them.

Akinyimika also congratulated the management of the school for their impacts on the pupils, promising them support from the Nigerian Airforce authority to achieve more successes in future.

Also speaking, Flt. Lt. Mas’ud Sani, the State Education Officer charged the new graduands to hold on to their values, beliefs and passion as they move forward in life.

“Be kind, emphatic and compassionate towards others. Make a positive impact in the world and leave a lasting legacy,” Sani said.
