Cholera: NYSC assures corps members safety

The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator in Oyo State, Mr Abel Odoba, has assured parents and guardians of the safety of corps members against cholera disease.

Odoba stated this on Tuesday in Iseyin during the opening of the 2024 Batch B, Stream I orientation course for corps members deployed to the state.

He noted that NYSC authority had provided sanitary guidelines that must be followed in camps to curb cholera outbreak. He added that camp premises had been properly fumigated before the arrivals of the corps members.

“We are providing hand sanitizers and also ensuring regular provision of water for corps members for proper hygiene in the toilets,” he said.

The coordinator urged corps employers in the state to give welfare of corps members ultimate priority saying that no corps members should go down with cholera disease.

He charged corps members to make their wellbeing a top priority through proper hygiene practices.

The state coordinator solicited the support of well meaning Nigerians, corporate bodies and government toward the completion of ongoing construction of ultra modern multipurpose hall for camp activities.

“We appreciate the support and cooperation of Oyo state government, we still need more. The NYSC management and other stakeholders have done block work of the 5000 capacity multipurpose hall to roofing stage.

“The hall, when completed, will save corps members from frequent disruptions of lectures and trainings during raining season,” he said.
