Jesus Christ is the pattern for Christians to emulate– Cleric
An Anglican Cleric, Venerable Ekene Nwafor, Vicar, Church of The Pentecost, Awka, Diocese of Awka, Anglican Communion, has charged Christian faithful to remember that Jesus Christ is their pattern in life.
Nwafor called on Christ Believers to live a life that depicts the pattern associated to their God against living a life of mockery to shame Jesus Christ’s mission on earth.
He said this in a sermon, titled “Christ is the pattern of life“, during Wednesday’s weekly Holy Communion service in the church on Wednesday in Awka.
He said that God has endowed people with various gifts and talents to enable the people navigate life challenges without falling into the desires of the world which is in conflict with His desires for the faithful.
He said that in all, Christians should hold fast to the doctrines and promises of God despite life difficulties and ensure that they do not cut corners while discharging their daily duties to the public like people who do not see Christ as a pattern of living do.
Nwafor urged Christians to be watchful and live a life of accountability in all they do because Christ watches every bit of their open and dark activities.
“The 1st Peter 1 verse 7, says that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire might be found unto praise, honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
“You may be tempted at work place to hide people’s files so as to illicit gain favour of any type, resist such, you may be pushed to collaborate against other people for some dishonest riches run away, for all these are not Christ pattern,” he said
Nwafor reminded the faithful that if they see Christ as a pattern of life and tries to live as ordered by the word that the promises in book Psalm 23 would be theirs.
“The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want, He leadeth thee beside a still water, He restores you soul from evil and trials and leads you in path of righteousness, and when you work in valley of death which is sin, he will delivers you and so many other blessings.
“All you need to do is just see Christ Jesus as a pattern to emulate and abide by his words all will be well with you,” he said.
He said that the assurance of Christ to his people will not be in vain if they comply because he has said that to them Fear not for I will be with you at all times.
“Christ is our model at all times in difficulties and life challenges because he is the image and nature of God, he will give peace, love, care perseverance to the people who desire him.
“He has died on the cross and redeemed us all to live a good life, to be rich in his word to enjoy life after which all will meet with him.
“Ensure that your coming to church will not be in vain at last, see Christ as a pattern of life and distinguish yourselves amongst others through obedience to the law of the land, be patriotic enough to engage only in growth and developmental actions of the nation,” he appealed.
He prayed for the peaceful transition of leadership and progress of the country.
