Eid el fitri: Olubadan charges Muslims to sustain good habits after Ramadan
The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Olalekan Balogun, has charged Muslim faithful not to go back to all the forsaken habits during the Ramadan but to sustain good habits.
The traditional ruler gave the charge in his congratulatory message to all Muslims on the completion of the 2023 Ramadan.
In a statement issued on Thursday through his media aide, Mr Oladele Ogunsola, the Oba asserted that the gains and blessings of Ramadan are not limited to the observance period alone.
According to him, Muslims are expected to keep to the tenets of the Holy Quran during and after Ramadan.
“While congratulating my brothers and sisters in Islam for the successful completion of the Ramadan, I admonish us to keep faith with the demands of the Holy month.
“If it was possible for us to keep away from certain habits considered unbecoming of Muslim faithful during Ramadan, it should not be difficult for us to forsake such for the rest of our lives.
“We should continue with all our good deeds of Ramadan and make them our ways of life. That’s the purpose and the teaching of Holy Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Unto Him).
“We are not people of genuine faith if our concern and love for our neighbours only last during Ramadan,” Olubadan stated.
He urged Muslim faithfuls to celebrate in moderation and let things be done within the ambit of civility and consideration for others.
He prayed for the country’s leadership at all levels, Nigerians in general and Ibadan sons and daughters.
