Tabitha Abimbola Foundation Reaches Out To Indigent Women For Sallah
As the Muslims in Nigeria join others all over the world to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, The Tabitha Abimbola Foundation, under the leadership of Ms Abimbola Agbebiyi, has reached to some poor, indigent and vulnerable women.
The women, from three communities, Makoko, Ogudu and Egbeda areas of Lagos State, were gifted rice and cash by the foundation to cushion effects of current economic challenges.
Agbebiyi said that the outreach was dedicated to vulnerable individuals and families.
At the event, which held at 20, Adeniyi Street, Ogba, Lagos on Friday, tagged; “Project Feed (Ileya Food Pack),” Ms Agbebiyi stated that the foundation is a Non-profit and Non Governmental Organisation established to combat poverty amongst women, widows and single mothers.
Agbebiyi stated that It is a mission to combat the scourge of poverty by helping the indigents in the society.
“The support could be small, but it leads to profound impacts. I have walked this path before and I had been in their shoes.
“It would be Eid el-Kabir in few days time, this is our own way of helping the beneficiaries to make a difference in their lives as they celebrate Sallah as we know that the country is hard now due to high cost of food ingredients and items.
“We are self sponsored and we will be one year in July. But we were supported by Hon. Moremi Ojudu, SSA to the President on Community Development (South West), who gave us bags of rice and clothing,” she said.
While expressing happiness for the opportunity to support the beneficiaries, Agbebiyi informed them that the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation also has plans for them.
She said that the ministry would soon empower them with money for their businesses, and urged them to register with the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) as they would soon be verified.
Speaking at the presentation, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs Oluwaseun Oseni, thanked Ms Agbebiyi, who she said was there for her, when she had issues after her husband left her and her children for another woman.
“May God bless you. I want to go into business to take care of my family. My husband left me with the children to live with another woman.
“I am the only one taking care of them and even this morning I couldn’t provide food for them as I had no money to give them,” she said.
Another beneficiary, Mrs Noeline Abajinu, thanked the foundation for the gesture, saying that it will help her and her family.
Abajinu however, appealed to the government at all levels to support people like her with money for their businesses.
This was corroborated by Mrs Madeleine Fosupe, who expressed happiness over the support and prayed that God would reward the people behind the foundation for taking care of the poor and indigent people like her.
